4 May 2021, 15:51

The Joint Committee on Health will discuss allegations made in a recent RTÉ Investigates programme with the Secretary General of the Department of Health Robert Watt tomorrow, Wednesday 5th May.

Mr Watt will appear virtually before the Committee for the meeting which takes place from Committee Room 2 at 9.30 am

Cathaoirleach of the Committee Seán Crowe TD said: “The Committee has asked Robert Watt to appear at the meeting to address allegations made in an RTÉ Primetime Investigates programme broadcast on Thursday 25th of March. A whistleblower, Shane Corr alleged in the programme that dossiers, which apparently included sensitive medical and educational information of children involved in dormant court cases, were compiled and maintained over a number of years by the Department of Health, allegedly without the knowledge or consent of the parents of those children.”

“The Joint Committee on Health met in private session after the programme was aired to express concerns over the allegations.  The Committee subsequently met Mr Corr in private session to hear his evidence on the matter.”
