The Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage will meet to discuss the Land Development Agency Bill and local government matters, watch live, from 12.30pm tomorrow.

The meeting, in Committee Room 3, will hear from the following witnesses

·Cllr. Mary Hoade,  President, Association of Irish Local Government

·Cllr. John Joe Fennelly,  Vice President, Association of Irish Local Government

·Cllr. Anne Colgan, Delegate, Association of Irish Local Government

·Cllr. Micheal Anglim, Chairperson, Local Authorities Members Association

·Cllr. John Sheahan, General Secretary, Local Authorities Members Association

·Cllr. Joe Malone, Oireachtas Liaison Officer, Local Authorities Members Association

In advance of the meeting, Committee Chair, Steven Matthews, TD, said: “In February the Minister published the Bill, with the goal of managing and developing state and public land for the provision of affordable and Cost Rental  housing at scale so as to address deficiencies in the housing market and to assist local authorities to deliver housing. With that in mind the perspective of LAMA and AILG will be timely. Housing remains our greatest challenge as we emerge from the pandemic, and the supply of affordable and Cost Rental homes and the involvement of local authorities across the country is key to this. The Select Committee will shortly deal with Committee Stage of the Bill.”
