EU Affairs Committee to engage with members of the Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for the Executive Office

The Joint Committee on EU Affairs will meet with members of the Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for the Executive Office to discuss inter-parliamentary relations post-Brexit at a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, 12 May in Leinster House at 9.30am.

The Committee of the Executive Office, is the Northern Ireland Assembly committee  responsible for scrutinising the work of the Northern Ireland Executive Office including the Executive Office’s activities in European Affairs.
Members of the Executive Office Committee scheduled to attend tomorrow’s meeting, virtually, in Committee Room 4 include Colin McGrath MLA(Chair), Martina Anderson MLA, Trevor Clarke MLA and Emma Sheerin MLA.
Cathaoirleach of the EU Affairs Committee Deputy Joe McHugh TD said: “The Joint Committee on EU Affairs welcomes this engagement, to hear details of the work of the Committee for the Executive Office. The Assembly committee has held a number of meetings relating to EU matters including the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol and the impacts of Brexit on Northern Ireland.
“It is a valuable opportunity to get their views on inter-parliamentary relations since Brexit and how engagement can be strengthened; and to get their opinions on the best ways of ensuring the Assembly’s voice is heard in Brussels.”
