Oireachtas Mental Health Sub Committee to discuss services for older people with Age Action and ALONE

The Sub Committee on Mental Health will meet representatives of ALONE and Age Action tomorrow, Thursday 20 May to discuss services provided to older people and the demands made on them as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The meeting will take place in Leinster House, Committee Room 2 at 9.30am. Age Action’s Head of Advocacy and Communications, Celine Clarke and Senior Public Affairs and Policy Specialist, Nat O’Connor; and ALONE’s Chief Executive Officer Sean Moynihan and Policy Officer Andrew Rooney are scheduled to appear virtually before the Committee for the discussion. Speaking before the meeting, Cathaoirleach of the Sub-Committee Senator Frances Black said: “Few, if any, have not been impacted in some way by the uncertain and unprecedented environment Covid-19 has inflicted on our lives.  Each generation is being impacted in unique ways. The Sub-Committee welcomes tomorrow’s engagement with ALONE and Age Action to hear about their work,  the services they provide to older people, and the demand placed on those services as a direct result of the pandemic.” View the meeting live.
