Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to discuss 2030 Target of reducing Carbon Emissions with Electricity Association of Ireland

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 25 May, to resume discussions on reducing Ireland’s Carbon Emissions by 51 per cent by 2030.

The meeting at 12.30pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House will hear from representatives of the Electricity Association of Ireland led by Dara Lynott, Chief Executive Officer.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “This engagement continues our sector-by-sector analysis of how the interim target of a 51% reduction in emissions by 2030 can be achieved. We look forward to hearing from Mr Lynott and his colleagues how the electricity sector can contribute to the decarbonisation of Ireland’s economy and society over the next decade.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
