Joint Committee on Public Petitions to meet with Ombudsman Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman Annual Reports 2018/2019

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 25 May, to examine the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman Annual Reports for 2018 and 2019 with Ger Deering, Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 12.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “The role of the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman is to investigate and resolve complaints made against financial service providers and pension providers, by informal means, mediation or formal investigation, if needed.

“The Committee welcomes this opportunity to engage with Mr Deering and looks forward to discussing his annual reports for 2018 and 2019, along with related matters. Members are particularly interested in hearing about complaints related to the Covid-19 pandemic and business interruption insurance, and around tracker mortgages.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.
