Oireachtas Committee to meet with representatives of the Ballymurphy Families

24 May 2021, 16:00

The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will hear from representatives of the Ballymurphy Families at a meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, 25 May in Leinster House, Committee Room 3 at 9:30 am.

  • John Teggart (son of Daniel Teggart)
  • Carmel Quinn (sister of John Laverty)
  • Padraig Ó Muirigh, Ó Muirigh Solicitors

Speaking before the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Fergus O’Dowd TD said: “The inquest found that all ten people shot in Ballymurphy 50 years ago were entirely innocent and that the force used on the day was disproportionate. The Committee looks forward to listening to the representatives tomorrow; understanding what the findings mean to them and seeing how we can assist the families, and their supporters. I truly welcome a discussion with all participants.”

You can view the meeting in Committee Room 3 on the Oireachtas website.
