Joint Committee on Transport and Communications to meet Minister Ossian Smyth on national cybersecurity and Fórsa on Aer Lingus announcement about Shannon and Cork bases

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will hold separate sessions tomorrow, Wednesday, 26 May, to discuss Ireland’s national cybersecurity and issues affecting cabin crew and the recent announcements in relation to the Aer Lingus Cork and Shannon bases.

The meeting at 12.30pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House will be split into two sessions:

12.30-1.30pm – Ossian Smyth TD, Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, to discuss cybersecurity; and

1.30-2.30pm – Representatives of the union Fórsa on issues affecting cabin crew and recent Aer Lingus announcements.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said: “The Committee welcomes this engagement with Minister Ossian Smyth and looks forward to hearing from him an update on the cyber attack on the HSE and on our national cybersecurity strategy.

“In our second session, we will meet with representatives of the union Fórsa to discuss issuing affecting Aer Lingus cabin crews following the company’s recent announcement in relation to the Aer Lingus Shannon and Cork bases.”

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
