Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee to meet RACO representatives

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence will meet representatives of The Representative Association of Commissioned Officers (RACO) tomorrow, Tuesday 29 June to discuss issues related to the Defence Forces.

The meeting will take place in Leinster House, Committee Room 2 at 12.30pm.

RACO’s President Commandant Luke Foley, General Secretary Commandant Conor King and Deputy General Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Derek Priestly will appear before the Committee virtually for the discussion.

Committee Cathaoirleach, Charlie Flanagan TD said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with representatives of RACO to hear their views and recommendations in respect of  issues currently facing the Defence Forces particularly in relation to recruitment, retention, pay and conditions of service for members of the Army, Air Corps and Naval Service.”

RACO was formally established in 1991 by statute under the Defence Amendment Act.
