The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 23 September, to resume its examination of the 2020 Financial Statements of the Health Service Executive (HSE).

The meeting at 9.30am will be broadcast from Committee Room 3 of Leinster House and will hear from the Comptroller and Auditor General, Seamus McCarthy, and representatives of the HSE led by Paul Reid, Chief Executive Officer. A representative from the Department of Health will also be in attendance.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Stanley said: “Following our engagement with Mr Reid and his colleagues last week on Covid-19 related emergency spending and procurement, the Committee now looks forward to examining other items in the HSE Financial Statements for 2020, which account for over €20 billion in Exchequer funding.

“Matters of interest to Members include grants to outside agencies under Sections 38 and 39 of the Health Act 2004, correspondence received by PAC relating to the SouthDoc service in Kerry and Cork, the Nursing Home Support Scheme, known as Fair Deal, and payroll fraud, which was flagged by the C&AG.”

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas.ie.
