Seanad Committee discuss Trade and Co-operation Agreement and the Withdrawal Agreement Dispute Resolution Mechanisms

11 Oct 2021, 17:35

The Seanad Special Select Committee on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 12 October, to discuss the dispute resolution mechanism for the Trade and Co-operation Agreement and the Withdrawal Agreement of the United Kingdom from the European Union with officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Committee of Senators will meet at 12 pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Senator Lisa Chambers said: “The Committee welcomes the opportunity to discuss the dispute resolution mechanisms put in place by the EU and UK for the Trade and Co-operation Agreement and the Withdrawal Agreement of the United Kingdom from the European Union. Having these mechanisms in place will hopefully allow the ‘good-faith’ approach to work at all three stages of the resolution process and for all involved to receive a satisfactory outcome.”

Senator Chambers added: “The Committee looks forward to receiving an update from the Department Officials on this matter and for the Committee Members to have the opportunity to ask questions and delve deeper into the process.”

You can view the meeting in Committee Room 4 on the Oireachtas website.
