Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to discuss Implementation of New National Retrofitting Plan

4 Apr 2022, 16:40

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 5 April, for a discussion on the Implementation of the New National Retrofitting Plan.

The meeting at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from representatives from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) led by Mr William Walsh, CEO.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “The National Heat Study and the National Retrofit Plan were both published earlier this year by SEAI. The National Heat Study provides a comprehensive analysis of the options to reduce CO₂ emissions associated with heating in Ireland and the National Retrofit Plan sets out how the Government plans to deliver on its retrofit targets up to 2030.

“The SEAI is the State agency at the forefront of Ireland’s clean energy transition and has been designated as the national retrofit delivery body. The Committee looks forward to discussing both the heat study and the retrofit plan with Mr Walsh and his colleagues, and the role the SEAI will play in assisting householders’ home energy upgrades over the coming decade and in Ireland reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment sector.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meetings in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
