The Joint Committee on Gender Equality will meet on Thursday, April 28th, to discuss the recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality regarding Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence with the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee.
The meeting will take place in Committee Room 2 between 09:30-12:30 in Leinster House.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach, Deputy Ivana Bacik, said: “We look forward to discussing recommendations 37-41 regarding domestic, sexual and gender-based violence (DSGBV) of the Citizens’ Assembly report on Gender Equality with Minister McEntee.”
“The Minister recently announced the establishment of a new statutory agency to oversee the implementation of the government’s approach to tackling DSGBV.”
“We welcome the opportunity to discuss how this new agency can be informed by the recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly report, reform and review of the court system, and how to increase awareness and education of the various forms of DGSBV.”
