Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment to resume pre-legislative scrutiny of the Right to Request Remote Working Bill 2022

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment will meet on Wednesday May 18th to resume pre-legislative scrutiny of the Right to Request Remote Working Bill 2022.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House between 09:30-12:30.

Assistant Secretary of the Workplace Regulation and Economic Migration Division at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment Dermot Mulligan will address the meeting.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Maurice Quinlivan said: “The Right to Request Remote Working Bill aims to provide a legal framework for workers to request remote work and have their request approved or refused by employers.”

“The Committee previously heard from representatives from ICTU, Ibec, Glofox and Grow Remote on the Bill and we welcome the opportunity to hear the views of a Department of Enterprise official on the Bill.”

“As this will be a huge change to how many people will work in the future it is critically important the we get this new legislation right.”
