Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to discuss Empowering Local Government and Local Communities to Climate Action

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 24 May to discuss Empowering Local Government and Local Communities to Climate Action.

The meeting at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from officials from the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications and representatives from Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “Local Authorities and local communities have key roles to play in the delivery of both climate mitigation and adaptation. The Committee looks forward to discussing with the Department officials and the SEAI the measures that are already in place to encourage and facilitate local empowerment, as well as additional measures that may be required, and related matters.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
