The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment will meet on Wednesday June 29th for Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of the Representative Actions for the Protection of the Collective Interests of Consumers Bill 2022.

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment chaired by Deputy Maurice Quinlivan will meet on Wednesday June 29th for Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of the Representative Actions for the Protection of the Collective Interests of Consumers Bill 2022.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House between 9:30-12:30.

The General Scheme of Representative Actions for the Protection of the Collective Interests of Consumers Bill 2022 (General Scheme) was published in April 2022 and proposes to give effect to the Representative Action Directive (EU 2020/1828) (Directive).

The Directive gives protection to the collective interests of consumers in Europe by providing a means to bring redress and injunctive representative actions arising out of the infringement of consumer rights by traders located in an EU Member State.

Officials from the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment will appear before the Committee.
