The Committee on Budgetary Oversight will meet today, Wednesday 23rd October for discussion on the State’s Medium-Term Fiscal and Structural Plan with representatives from the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council from 5:30pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.
This Medium-Term Fiscal and Structural Plan is the first to be published and submitted to the EU Commission under the revised fiscal governance framework for the European Union, and while still incorporating annual surveillance measures it moves the State towards a more medium-term orientation for budgetary policy. As such, the Committee is interested in examining the technical assumptions underpinning the plan and its impact on and role within the wider budgetary cycle, and in this regard looks forward to hearing the views of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council on this important issue.
The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
