The Joint Committee on Climate, Environment and Energy chaired by Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Naoise Ó Múirí has published its Report on proposed Carbon Budgets.

To inform its consideration of the proposed carbon budgets, the Committee held engagements with, and received submissions from, the Climate Change Advisory Council; the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment; and academics with expertise in the field. 

Speaking on the publication of the Report, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Naoise Ó Múirí said “This report represents the Joint Committee’s consideration of the proposed carbon budgets from 2031-35 and 2036-40, which have been referred to the Joint Committee by Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann. Carbon Budgets set a framework for policy on reducing emissions and are a critical guide for Ireland’s journey to carbon neutrality."
