The Joint Committee on Infrastructure & National Development Plan Delivery to discuss the role of engineering in delivering high-quality infrastructure, including projects set out in the NDP

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 3:30pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Seán Fleming said: "Engineering is crucial in the delivery of high-quality infrastructure in Ireland, particularly with the National Development Plan investing substantial funding into projects that enable growth, sustainability, and regional development.”

"Today, we have a valuable opportunity to meet with three representative bodies in this area –Engineers Ireland, the Irish Academy of Engineering and the Association of Chartered Engineers Ireland – to learn about the issues that they see in future delivery.

"This Committee’s focus is constantly on the delivery of the National Development Plan and Ireland’s large-scale capital projects. Our remit is to scrutinise and analyse all that goes into the planning, staging and ultimately bringing to fruition of all major projects in Ireland.  

“The investment from the NDP continues to support key areas such as transportation infrastructure, energy and water infrastructure, and housing and urban development, ensuring Ireland's infrastructure is fit for purpose and supports economic growth and environmental sustainability for our citizens.”

The Committee on Infrastructure and National Development Plan Delivery has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
