The Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 5 November, to discuss the Review of the Rural Social Scheme (RSS), Community Employment Scheme (CE) and TÚS (Community Workplace Initiative).
The meeting at 9:30am in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will be split into two sessions to hear from:
- 9:45am – Officials from the Department of Social Protection;
- 10:45am – Representatives from Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, Liffey Partnmership and the Crann Support Group CLG.
Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John Paul O’Shea said: “In the first session the Committee will meet with officials from Department of Social Protection who administer the various schemes to review the schemes and developments. The second session will see the Committee engage with stakeholder groups and hear about the operation of the schemes, how they impact participants and communities and how they may be enhanced into the future.”
The Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
