3 Dec 2025, 15:15

The Joint Committee on Children and Equality will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 4 December, at 9:30am in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House to resume discussions on Child Poverty and Deprivation with the Minister for Children and Equality, Norma Foley TD, and officials from the Department of Children and Equality.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Keira Keogh said: “The Committee has held three meetings in recent weeks to examine the causes of child poverty and deprivation and the impact on children and families. We have heard the views and experiences from stakeholders who deal with the poverty and deprivation across society and their suggestions for supports and other policy measures to tackle child poverty.

“This meeting is an opportunity for the Committee to brief Minister Foley and her officials on what we have heard in these previous engagements, and discuss policy measures and supports to assist families out of poverty and deprivation, and related matters.”

The Joint Committee on Children and Equality has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
