The Joint Committee on Infrastructure and National Development Plan Delivery will meet on Wednesday, 30th September for engagement with the Department of Health on progress of their Development Plan from 2026 up to 2030.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Sean Fleming said “We will discuss with those attending from the Department the overall capital Budget for the next 5 years. The National Development Plan Review assigned over €3 billion in capital allocation to Health across 2025 and 2026. At our meeting we will seek specific detail into how and where this funding was utilised in terms of buildings and equipment.
“We will also interrogate the lessons that the Department has learned from the debacle of the costs in delivering the National Children’s Hospital. With the Department receiving almost €10 billion in funding for capital investment over the next 5 years, our Committee will stress the need to ensure this funding is well invested.
“We look forward to receiving updates on all healthcare infrastructure investment. The Committee continues to emphasise the importance of maintaining momentum in the delivery of key projects which are vital to ensure the public have access to a top tier health system into the future.”
The meeting in Committee Room 1 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
The Committee on Infrastructure and National Development Plan Delivery has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
