If we are going to retain that investment grade credit rating, it means we can only have a certain amount...Part of that is driven by our main source of revenue, which is airport charges....Airport charges at Heathrow were already £20 and were increased yesterday....that money is being leaked to one constituency or another, other than if we simply say that we are going...to reduce our charges and transfer value to the airlines.

I recognise the Government has legislation now that is going to the House for Second Stage debate....This is going to pass. There is no way to stop this passing Committee Stage today....The Minister of State talked about collection charges, which we will come to momentarily....The issue of collection charges, as the Minister of State recognises, emanated from the consultation...The interest rate would go from €560 down to €360 in the first three years and down to €180.

The charge for any house built in rural areas outside the towns and villages is worked out by square...That money is going to the Government for footpaths, lights and libraries....The Government has closed down all those amenities and taken them away from us but it is charging us...It taxes us out of existence and finds another way to put another charge on the people of this country

They have taken up those other jobs and they are not going back to hospitality....They are going around all these groups and forums on how to get tourists into the country and encourage...They are still thinking about putting a service charge on a pint of beer....That is the level of thinking that is going on and it has to stop....€80 a week, would now fall under a service charge.

It is one thing they could actually go along with....also very easy to police because an invoice could still be issued including the VAT and then it would go...material costs and everything would be done out on spreadsheets to show what square footage was being charged...That is going to be another phase we and the Government must take into account.
