A number of Deputies referred on Second Stage to the definitions of adventure activities included in...the Bill and questioned the absence of certain other activities from these definitions....The definitions in the Bill reflect only those activities which are widely provided in activity centres..."adventure activities" and could, in time, be included under the legislation....However, the difficulty is that many of these activities do not have recognised standards.

We are talking about adventure activities....We are establishing an authority to deal with standards for safety regulations and also provide funding...as laid out in the Bill....The other sector is not subject to those standards....It seems strange that the authority would operate only in this area regarding the non-commercial as well

Cecilia Keaveney I am glad to return to this Adventure Activities Standards Authority Bill....function of the activities standards authority....This authority will oversee adventure activities in 13 activities....within these specified adventure activities to register with the authority and the authority will develop...It is noted in the Minister's speech that the Bill only covers those who provide adventure activities
