investigations or inquiries into accidents which occur in the workplace, or involving marine related activities...at adventure centres, can only be undertaken by the authority where the consent of the Minister for...and Safety Authority, or the Marine Casualty Investigation Board....However, where it is agreed that the Adventure Activities Standards Authority can play a role in such...investigations, the authority will be empowered to do so.

There is no point in pretending there is a uniform standard....Like many other speakers, on reading the Bill, the first thing that struck me was the list of adventure...The one area with which I am inclined to take issue is that the Bill covers only those adventure centres...The Bill provides an opportunity to increase standards across the board at a time when all aspects of...No doubt it is expensive to operate adventure activity centres – they do not come cheaply.

with everything here today and the discussion dealt fairly comprehensively with all aspects of the Bill...Nevertheless, despite some of the deficiencies that have been pointed out in the Bill, I am sure that...when the new authority finds its feet, it will rectify anything that we may have overlooked....This legislation is a good attempt to improve public safety in all areas of adventure activity and if...the hours we have spent debating it today result in the saving of even one life in any adventure activity
