I assume it would be much easier for offenders to present to their local station than to have to travel...are any changes or concerns then that again comes under the remit of the legislation where relevant information...There is a number of different mechanisms in the legislation that allow An Garda Síochána to monitor....of it later, like changing name and so on, but An Garda Síochána is clear that what we have in the Bill...is workable and suitable and it does not impact on how it monitors sex offenders.

Offenders Act 2001 is clear that it is an offence for offenders to change their names without notifying...If the Garda is not notified or given that information, the sex offender is in breach of the Act and...The sex offender may then be sent back to prison....It is already an offence for a sex offender to change his or her name without notifying the Garda....However, sex offenders cannot do so without notifying the Garda.

I imagine it would be logical, in the context of the EU, that if somebody is on a sex offenders' register...in one EU country it should be possible for that information to be transferred to another EU country...Even if it cannot be done in this Bill, there must be some mechanism to do it....On the other point about people who have offended in this country prior to the passing of this Bill,
