Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. M....McDowell) This Bill will eventually become an Act....If it was referred to simply as a Land Act it would give a misleading impression as to what kind of Act...The Land Acts generally concerned land purchase and registry, whereas this Bill is slightly different...Therefore, I chose the Title to say that it is a law reform Bill to deal with land and conveyancing law

To include them in the Land and Conveyancing Law Reform Bill 2006 would give a misleading impression...issue to the attention of the Attorney General to see if it could be dealt with elsewhere but not in a Bill...dealing with interests in land....As Deputy Tuffy knows, titles do not adhere to the land and should not be included in a Bill dealing...with conveyancing issues.
