Ward The point is not covered in the Bill for the reason that, if it is considered that the principle...sound one—and I believe it is—it will have universal application to other authorities as well as the public...assistance authorities....The matter will be dealt with in the Local Government Bill.

That appears to be more pressing and more appropriate to the discussion of this Bill than the general...machinery of administration of public assistance in Cork City and South Cork area....He would like to see some relief from the cost of public assistance, particularly as regards the rural...The Bill does not propose to afford any relief. Deputy Corry spoke on the same matter....All this Bill is doing in relation to it is to perpetuate the existing condition of things.

Ward Not only is it seriously intended, but it is clearly set out in the Bill....It is also set out in the Bill that the county council shall have power to appoint a committee or committees...to administer public assistance for the district, or any part of it.
