Connaughton I welcome the opportunity to speak on this Bill....Alongside solving the problem of drink driving, we must also educate young people about driving skills...Does the Department plan to implement programmes in our schools and colleges to educate young drivers...Sometimes young people do not understand this responsibility and it would do no harm to develop an education...I welcome the Bill, although I believe there is more to be done in regard to educating young drivers.

This Bill was first published in green, as it was to go to the Dáil....Last week the colour changed when the Bill was published in yellow, as it was to be initiated in the...In my opinion, this Bill should be printed in red, as it gives a red card to county councillors....The democratic process is overrun and overruled in this Bill, which I reject utterly....We should educate and learn, and give money to local authorities for infrastructure.
