    17 Jun 1993 - ongoing consultations with the Department of Health to ensure that we have the best possible coverage of statistics...On a general level, the increased powers in the Bill, putting the CSO on a statutory basis, etc....will help in the co-ordination of statistics.

    22 Jun 1993 - The Bill will, when enacted, increase the effectiveness of the CSO in providing for statistical information...The second relates to the period 1993-97, which was recently accepted by the Government and will be published...The Bill defines the term "Officer of Statistics" to include, inter alia, all staff of the CSO....The statutory guarantee in the Bill that all data obtained by the CSO will be used solely for statistical...I commend this Bill to the House.

    17 Jun 1993 - It seems to me this is an area where there are different ways at looking at statistics as they reflect...I do not believe in axiomatic representation but there should be a commitment in the Bill to some female...representation on the National Statistics Board.

    22 Jun 1993 - Kenny I welcome this Bill which is the result of a White Paper published by the Government in the mid-eighties...I note that the Taoiseach of the day has an influence on this Bill....The lessons to be learned from that period should be taken into account by a new board in the 1993-97...I welcome the Statistics Bill, 1993....I welcome the Bill and wish it a speedy passage through the House.

    17 Jun 1993 - The Senator will appreciate that the collection of statistics of necessity means that the basic data...I suggest that it might be more appropriate if I were to request the views of the National Statistics...present there is an education process for users who are directly involved in the compilation and use of statistics...I do not think it is appropriate to insert this amendment in the Bill and am concerned about the effects...The Senator could go directly to the CSO to discuss this matter or I could bring it to the National Statistics
