Legislation provides for an independent Standards in Public Office Commission and a Select Committee on Members’ Interests in each House of the Oireachtas.
This code of conduct was adopted by Dáil Éireann on 28 February 2002.
The Standards in Public Office Act 2001 introduced a tax clearance requirement for Members of the Dáil.
