Fire safety and emergency evacuations

A comprehensive fire safety management system is in place throughout the Houses of the Oireachtas campus.

Members should familiarise themselves with the fire exits and evacuation routes from all areas. Fire wardens are appointed throughout the campus.

If you discover a fire you should operate the nearest fire alarm. Most of our fire alarms are located at our fire exits. Everyone should make sure they are familiar with the fire alarm locations in their building.

Do not expect someone else to call the fire brigade. Dial 999 and let them know where the fire is. You should also contact the Superintendent’s section and pass on all the information you have.

In the event of the activation of the fire or evacuation alarm, leave the building immediately via the nearest exit, follow the instructions of the parliamentary ushers, service officers and fire wardens and go to your assembly point.
