NON-MINISTERIAL MOTIONS. - FORMATION OF AN ECONOMIC COUNCIL.

As a matter of urgency, and with the permission of the House,
S. MAC DONNACHADHA (Tipperary North) moved:—
"That the responsible Minister of Dáil Eireann be instructed to proceed immediately with the formation of an Economic Council for Ireland. Such Council to be composed in part of farmers, labourers and merchants, and its functions to be:—
1. The control of food prices.
2. The standardisation of wages in accordance with the prices of food and other necessities."
W. SEARS (Mayo South) seconded the motion, and suggested that the Co-operative Organisation be represented on the Council.
The mover of the motion accepted this suggestion.
The motion was agreed to, the details in connection with the formation of the Council to be left to the Ministry.
