PRIVATE MOTIONS.

J. MACENTEE (Monaghan, South) moved:—
"That notice be served upon the Enemy Government that henceforward for every soldier of the Irish Republic executed in violation of the laws of war, the Government of the Republic will order the execution of some member of the enemy forces who has been taken prisoner by us.
"Furthermore, that for every citizen of the Irish Republic executed by the enemy, a subject of the enemy Government shall be executed by us."
The motion was not seconded.
J. MACENTEE (Monaghan, South) moved:—
"That the Government of the Republic take whatever steps may be advisable to declare its policy towards any section of the population of Ireland that may put itself in secession from the Republic."
THE SUBSTITUTE MINISTER FOR LABOUR seconded.
The motion was lost on a division.
