Vol. S2 No. 3

PUBLICITY WORK.

Cad é an obair Craobhscaoileacháin atá déanta ag Aireacht an Chraobhscaoileacháin ar son na Poblachta ó bhí an Dáil i n-a suidhe cheana; cad é an fhuireann a bhí ag obair aige, is cá rabhadar ag obair?

asked the Minister for Publicity what publicity work on behalf of the Irish Republic has been done by his Department in the interval since the adjournment of the Dáil; what staff has been employed, and where have they been located.

Mr. Speaker, the work of the propaganda department has, of course, changed radically since, first, the signing of the Truce, and then since the approval of the Treaty. We have ordinary routine work—giving out notes. Our other work is explaining to everybody who is interested exactly what the situation in Ireland is, and our particular work at present is arranging for publicity for what exactly is happening in Belfast.

I would like to put a supplementary question. I notice that the Minister for Publicity estimates £4,155 for the next six months; that is considerably in excess of the amount for the previous six months, though the Irish Bulletin as far as we know is stopped. I wonder could you give us an idea as to how that money is spent, considering that the Bulletin seems to have been withdrawn.

MR. FITZGERALD:

I should have notice of that question. But actually that estimate is for the publication of the Bulletin in case of its being necessary.
