Vol. S2 No. 3

RESIGNED R.I.C.

asked the Minister for Home Affairs what provision, if any, is being made for members of the Royal Irish Constabulary who resigned during the war?

Under what conditions such resigned members may be appointed to any new force now being established?

Will such resigned R.I.C. men who are unable or unwilling to join a new force be compensated and pensioned as generously as those who served the British Government during the war, i.e., by having twelve years added service for pension?

The reply is that members of the R.I.C. who resigned during the recent war in Ireland and who wish to join the new police force can do so on special terms, provided they are suitable candidates. The question of compensation or pension for those unable or unwilling to join the new force has not yet been considered.
