I am asked by the Deputy for Monaghan (Mr. Seán MacEntee)—
(a) How many members of the first Dáil were in receipt of a special subsistence allowance?
The answer is two. I am asked—
(b) What amount was paid from the Dáil funds on this account during the period January 1919 to June 1921?
The amount paid was £291 13s. 4d., as per account submitted. I am asked—
(c) Was it not understood, when provision was being made from the Dáil funds for this subsistence allowance, that it was only to be applied for in cases of extreme necessity, occasioned by the action of the enemy forces in Ireland during the war?
I have nothing to add to the answer given to the Deputy for South Wexford on the 26th April.
