To ask the Postmaster-General, in view of the statement by the President that this Dáil possess no powers of taxation, if he will inform the Dáil whether the ordinary letter postage is to be paid at the rate of 2d., as at present in force in Ireland by his order, or 1½d., as at present in force in England under the English Budget Law now in force.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - POSTAL RATES.
The 1½d. rate in England is not passed in the English Budget law as is erroneously stated in that question. Postal rates are not taxation, they are charges for services rendered.
It is a trading concern.
