To ask the Minister for Defence whether, having regard to the act that the claim for malicious injuries in the County of Mayo amount almost to a quarter of a million pounds, and the fact that a large proportion of these claims have arisen since the entry of the Free State troops into the county, it is possible to extend such protection to life and property as may ensure no further addition to the claims in question.

Everything possible is being done to prevent the loss of life or damage to property in Mayo. A resetting of our force in the West, is taking place in order more effectively to secure this.
