Vol. 1 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - DESTROYED RESIDENCES.

To ask the Minister for Home Affairs whether he is aware that large quantities of looted goods—highly valuable—from the destroyed residences in North-East and East Cork can yet be recovered; further, to ask the Minister for Home Affairs what steps he intends to take to recover this valuable property for the Government and so help to reduce the Irish Taxpayers Bill, and what steps, if any, will be taken against the person or persons in whose possession these goods are found?

I may say that I am not personally aware of it, but I accept the Deputy's assurance that it is a fact and I have been asked by the Military Authorities to state that detailed information with regard to this particular matter will be specially welcomed. I have further to say that when civil administration is established and consolidated in these areas we will also be very glad to get the best information with a view to prosecution.
