Vol. 1 No. 23

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - CO. LEITRIM INCIDENT.

TOMAS MAC ARTUIR

To ask the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a lorry taken from Mr. P.J. Tiernan, merchant, Carrigallen, Co. Leitrim, by the National troops, in or about the first week in July, has not been returned, and, as Mr. Tiernan's business is completely broken up by the loss of his lorry, are the Army Authorities prepared to compensate him in full, and, if so, when will this compensation be paid.

MINISTER for DEFENCE (General Mulcahy)

I am aware that this lorry was requisitioned from Mr. Tiernan. It is still being used for military purposes. The question of the payment of compensation for motors so taken is at the moment under consideration.
