Vol. 1 No. 25

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - LIMERICK LAY TEACHERS.

TOMAS O CONAILL

To ask the Minister for Education whether he is aware that the twelve lay secondary teachers who were employed in four schools in Limerick, and who, in common with the other members throughout Ireland of the Association of Secondary Teachers were engaged in May, 1920, in a strike for improved salaries, have all been dismissed in the ensuing two years, and whether he will consider the advisability of ordering an enquiry to be held in regard to such victimisation of lay teachers.

I have been asked by the Minister for Education to answer his questions. There is no legal authority for the ordering of any such enquiry as is suggested, but if the Deputy will supply me with particulars of the names of the teachers and schools concerned, an effort will be made to procure further information with reference to these dismissals.

TOMAS O CONAILL

I shall be glad to supply the information required.
