To ask the Minister for Home Affairs whether he has received a statement from the President of the Prisons Officers' Representative Council in which is embodied an application for a standardisation for the prisons officers' pay; if so, will he say what steps he intends taking in respect of the statement and application.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - STANDARDISATION OF PRISONS OFFICERS' PAY.
I have had under consideration the statement referred to in which is contained an application for the substitution of new inclusive rates of pay for the present basic scale and Cost of Living Bonus. I see, however, no reason why prison officers should be treated differently from the general body of the Civil Servants in this matter.
