I move the usual amendment to substitute "British Statute" for "any Act or Acts of the British Parliament" in lines 8 and 9, and to substitute "Statutes" for "Acts or any such Acts" in line 10, and in line 13 to substitute "British Statutes" for "Act or Acts of the British Parliament." Then in Sub-section 2, in lines 2 and 3 of the Sub-section, to substitute "British Statute" for "Act or Acts of the British Parliament," and in lines 19 and 20 to substitute "a Statute" for "Act or Acts" of them.
ADAPTATION OF BRITISH ENACTMENTS BILL. - APPLICATION OF STATUTORY RULES, ORDERS AND REGULATIONS.
"(1) Every interpretation, adaptation or modification made by this Act in the construction or application of any Act or Acts of the British Parliament shall apply to every order, rule and regulation made under such Act or any of such Acts and having the force of law in Saorstát Eireann and every such order, rule and regulation, shall be construed and interpreted in conformity with the Act or Acts of the British Parliament (as applied, adapted or modified by or under this Act) under which the same"
"(2) Whenever any power is given by this Act of applying, interpreting, adapting or modifying any Act of Acts of the British Parliament, such power shall extend and apply to every order, rule or regulation made under such Act or Acts or any of them and having the force of law in Saorstát Eireann."
Lines 10 and 11, "Any Act or any of such Acts as have the force of law in Saorstát Eireann," will all that go out?
The words "having the force of law" must remain, because under the Act of 1920 Orders in Council were issued making certain adaptations of Statutes, and these were issued to the departments at the time, consequently these Orders would escape that application unless the words were retained.
