Vol. 2 No. 14

- CONDITION OF RAILWAY BRIDGES.

To ask the Minister for Local Government whether he had received a copy of a resolution passed at a public meeting of the inhabitants, held in Abbeyleix on the 2nd October, 1922, calling attention to the dangerous condition of four roads over the bridges of the Great Southern and Western Railway in the immediate neighbourhood of the town of Abbeyleix, and requesting him to press the G.S. & W.R. Company to discharge their legal obligations to make the roads crossing their bridges safe for public traffic; whether he is aware that the G.S. & W.R. Co. have not taken any steps to affect the necessary temporary repairs; upon whom does the liability to repair these bridges rest, and will he take the necessary steps to compel such persons or body to effect the necessary temporary repairs?

This question should have been addressed to the Minister of Industry and Commerce, whom I have consulted on the matter. The Minister of Industry and Commerce is in communication with the Great Southern and Western Railway Company, and will inform the Deputy who has asked the question of the result as soon as possible.
