Vol. 2 No. 25

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - SOLICITORS' EXPENSES.

To ask the Minister for Home Affairs if he can state the total of the numerous accounts for costs and expenses still remaining unpaid, and sent in by solicitors in respect of prosecutions of persons charged with crime between January 1st and July 31st, 1922, and when those accounts will be paid by his Department.

The amount in question is £1,029 9s. 4d. Of this, bills amounting to £941 5s. 7d. have now been duly taxed, and payment will be made in the course of a few days. The balance of £88 3s. 9d. will be paid as soon as taxation of the necessary bills of costs has been completed.

In view of the Minister's answer I regret that my question was inaccurately worded. I thought there was a very much larger sum outstanding.
