Vol. 2 No. 26

ENFORCEMENT OF LAW BILL SENT TO SEANAD.

Mr. O'HIGGINS

I move that the Enforcement of Law (Occasional Powers) Bill be now passed and be sent to the Seanad. I hope that the Bill will be read carefully through the country.

I second the motion.

Are we to understand that no decrees of the Dáil Courts will be executed under this Act until they have first been revised?

Are not these decrees at present under revision?

Mr. O'HIGGINS

No decree of the Dáil Courts will be executed under this Act, unless and until it has been recommended by this Dáil. There will have to be legislation here bearing on that whole matter, and the report of the Committee which is looking into this question of winding up Dáil Courts is not yet before us. It will be brought before the Dáil and the decrees of the Courts will be duly validated by this body—such decrees as it is thought fit to have executed.

Motion put: "That the Enforcement of Law (Occasional Powers) Bill, 1923, be passed."

Agreed.
