Vol. 2 No. 29

ADJOURNMENT. - BUILDING OF EX-SERVICE MEN'S COTTAGES.

I have been informed that an order has been issued by the Board of Works, I think, to the contractors for the building of ex-service men's cottages in certain districts suspending the building operations. I would like that the Minister would give us some explanation as to why that action was taken—either now or later on.

I can only promise to make inquiries about that matter. But the Deputy will be quite aware that this whole business is under the control of the Sailors' and Soldiers' Department, which is a British service, and is not under our control. However, I will have inquiries made about the matter.

I would like to say that this order was issued by the Board of Works, and if all the men working on the different schemes have been let go I think it is an important matter that should be seen to.

The matter can be taken up to-morrow at question time if the Minister has any information.

The Dáil adjourned at 5.50 p.m. until 3 o'clock on Wednesday, 21st February.
