To ask the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Mr. Broderick, National Teacher, was arrested at Sligo some months ago, and is now detained at Droichead Nua; if he will state what are the charges against Mr. Broderick; whether it is proposed to bring him to trial; and whether, in view of his age and delicate health the Minister will consider the advisability of releasing Mr. Broderick on condition that he comes up for trial if called upon to do so.

Mr. Broderick was arrested for aiding Irregulars, and is still detained at Droichead Nua. It is not proposed at the moment to put him on trial, and it is not intended to release him at present.
