Vol. 2 No. 40

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - WEXFORD PENSION CLAIM.

To ask the Minister for Local Government to state the reason why a pension under the Blind Persons Act has been refused to Mrs. Margaret Ryan, of Whitestown, Drinagh, Wexford, in face of the fact that she is 67 years old, and that Dr. Thomas Pierce has certified that her defective vision makes her incapable of following her occupation of a dressmaker.

A pension under the Blind Persons Act has not been refused in this case, but an appeal has been received by the Ministry against the decision of the local Pension Committee awarding a pension of 10/- a week.

A Medical Inspector of the Ministry will see the applicant and will report. A decision can then be made.
